At ‘Ekahi Health, we’ve helped over a thousand individuals start their journey to a happier, healthier lifestyle. We understand that living with diabetes is a life-long challenge, and our healthcare professionals are here to help you become an empowered partner in your health. Our Wellness Navigators help you develop a personalized care plan – one that includes access to our Registered Dietitians, Pharmacists, Behavioral Health Specialists, and Nurse Practitioners.

We’ll also introduce you to Ke Ola Nui – a program that features regular Exercise, Stress Management, and Group Support classes. Through Ke Ola Nui, you’ll also discover a wealth of online resources that’ll equip you with the tools to better understand your diabetes. 

Visit us at our Open House on the last Thursday of every month, from 5-6:30 PM. Our team at ‘Ekahi is excited to be a life-long partner in your health.

How do I get started?

Getting started is easy! Call us at 808-777-4000, and one of our support specialists will be happy to assist you. Our staff work closely with your physician to obtain a referral as well as your previous medical records. 

Will I still see my regular physician?

Your regular physician will still be your primary provider, and will remain in charge of your care. Our goal is to help you become an empowered partner in your healthcare, and we work closely with your physician to ensure that your health goals are met. 

Is the program a covered benefit of my insurance?

‘Ekahi Wellness is a covered benefit of virtually all insurances in the state of Hawaii. To qualify, you will need a diagnosis of diabetes – unfortunately, pre-diabetes is not a qualifier at this time. 

How will this program affect my medication?

‘Ekahi Wellness is not a substitute for regular medication, but we do help participants better understand the side-effects of their medication, as well as how lifestyle changes can help them decrease their medications in some cases. We offer access to Times Pharmacists who can help adjust your medication as you progress. 

Does 'Ekahi Wellness encourage any specific diet?

At ‘Ekahi Wellness, our priority is to help you develop meal plans that work with your lifestyle. Our Registered Dietitians are accommodating of all dietary needs and preferences. We encourage participants to incorporate plant-based, whole-foods in their diet. We encourage participants to incorporate nutrient-dense whole foods – mostly plants – in their daily eating pattern.

Will I need to see all the providers each time I visit?

Our Wellness Navigators will connect you with each of our providers, as they all play an important role in maintaining your health. You’ll have the opportunity in subsequent visits to focus on any of our elements – including nutrition management, medical management, and emotional well-being.
